The Wanderer

When I went to the website that I randomly picked, I saw that I will be doing a blog about Han Chinese, Mandarin. When I saw the word Chinese, the first thought that came into my mind is that they are Buddhist. What I knew since I was high school is the fact that most people from China are Buddhist. When I finished reading the given site, I found out that it is almost 75% of their population are Buddhist. 

As I continued to read, I saw that Christianity is only 17%. Out of that 17%, only 11% of that are Evangelical. It is surprising though that it is 17%. I think the number of Christians have grown. 

The main language of this group of course is Chinese, Mandarin. Like every other missionaries, the first main challenge is to be able to speak in Mandarin. Missionaries who go here have other problems too. For example, the people who do not like Chinese rally or mistreat them. The missionaries should be able to share to them the truth and let them experience love!!!

Those are the 11 countries of Southeast Asia. As you can see, each country is alike to each other because we are one family. I believe that since we are brothers and sisters, we almost have the same attitude and beliefs. I have met some friends of my dad who are from Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore. When I was with them, I saw their character and how they relate to people. It may not be the stereotype of the countries I mentioned but I got a glimpsed of what people are there and how they act. Oh, by the way, they are all Christians. Some of them are missionaries. One person who was from Thailand shared that Christians are few in that country. He shared that there are Muslims who want to be Christians or are Christians but are going to get killed by family members who are Muslims. We cannot support them financially or going there personally but we can support them by prayer. We never know that the same thing may be happening in Malaysia, Laos and Cambodia. Let us pray for the Christians and pastors from those countries! 

            

             It might sound that the Christians are not recognized in those countries. For me, I think that it is a good sign. It means that most of the Southeast Asian countries have a lot of Christians. Meaning missionaries have been doing their jobs. The churches also play their part since they have been growing.

             Learning all these things, we can see that we need to support the missionaries and churches in Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand. We should pray that the missionaries and churches would do their job. The best way we can help, if not by helping personally or with money, is through prayer. Knowing this, we should START PRAYING! 

We are going to study these ten countries throughout the whole semester. Each week, we are going to study a different country. We, if not I, are going to learn a lot of new things from those countries. It would be a great start to take my major for my four years in school.
